Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Energy Storage System (ESS) Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, renewable energy, battery storage technologies, and grid integration. This role requires coordination with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure the successful deployment of ESS projects from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution:
• Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle for energy storage systems, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
• Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications.

Technical & Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure ESS projects meet local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements.
• Work closely with regulatory agencies, utilities, and permitting bodies to secure approvals and interconnection agreements.
• Stay updated on advancements in battery energy storage technologies, grid integration, and energy policies.

Stakeholder & Team Coordination:
• Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, finance, and operations) to align project goals.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, utility companies, and regulatory authorities.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior management and investors.

Financial & Risk Management:
• Monitor project budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial viability.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address technical, financial, and operational challenges.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success and efficiency.
• Oversee system testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
• Ensure seamless integration of ESS with the electrical grid or microgrid systems.
• Provide training and documentation to operations and maintenance (O&M) teams for long-term system performance.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in renewable energy, power systems, or battery energy storage projects.

Technical Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of energy storage technologies (Li-ion, flow batteries, etc.), grid interconnection, and power electronics.
• Familiarity with energy market regulations, permitting processes, and utility-scale storage applications.

Project Management Skills:
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within scope, budget, and timeline.
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is a plus.

Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving project requirements.
