Introduction

We solve the waste management crisis of the Indian Himalayan Region. Our work lies at the intersection of Climate Change, Biodiversity Habitat Conservation, and Informal livelihoods. With a team of 200+ Warriors spread across various locations nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, we strive to create effective waste management solutions across urban and rural landscapes, with a special focus on eco-sensitive and tourist areas.

Position Brief:

If you are reading this, in all likelihood you have been a tourist at multiple points in your lifetime. During those times, you’ve certainly been impacted by the amount of trash you’ve seen, especially if you’ve been to the beautiful tourist locations in the Indian Himalayan Region. You’ve felt the urge and the need to do something about it, to protect these eco-sensitive areas but you didn’t know how or where to start. We have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are launching a first-of-its-kind large-scale responsible tourism initiative called ‘Eco-Daan’ to nudge tourists to take pro-environmental action every time they travel through the power of art, creativity and technology! We’re piloting this initiative in Dharamshala and are looking to onboard people who are passionate about responsible travel, and are excitedly looking to create a large-scale positive impact in the tourism industry.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Build, maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders and keep them excited to ensure active participation in Eco-Daan.
• Curation of memorable, fun experience for tourists engaged as part of EcoDaan activities
• Build a community of eco-concious tourists post in-person activity engagement & general audience
• Design and execution of experiential learning/voluntourism program for long term visitors
• Build the understanding of the responsible tourism ecosystem and target audience and contribute to institutional memory
• Identify and Foster partnerships with external platforms to enhance the discoverability of EcoDaan movement
• Design and Execute holistic Communications (Branding & PR) strategy to enhance the discoverability of EcoDaan movement among incoming tourists in Dharamsala
• Design, Execute & Scale strategies to enhance Chatbot adoption to 10,000 users per month
• To create the necessary on-ground infrastructure to enable tourists climate actions
• Oversee the execution of project activities, ensuring adherence to strategy and model building
• Create a safe space, and inspire the teams by providing clear direction and support.
• Develop tools and systems to accurately record on-ground activities and their impact
• Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
• Communicate impact with stories from ground through different platforms
• Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports and present them to the project stakeholders and partners.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
• Should also be open to travel including to remote, hilly terrains.

A Successful Candidate Should Have:
• High levels of physical and mental resilience
• 5+ years of experience in project management, with a preference for waste management, environmental services, or sustainability-focused roles.
• Strong knowledge of waste management practices, regulatory requirements, and sustainability trends.
• Passion to work for environmental and climate change
• Good Communication skills in English and Hindi
• Skills to identify and mitigate risks associated with working in mountainous terrain.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions
• Willing to work in high-altitude, rugged, and remote mountain terrain.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and make data-driven decisions.
• Can make their team’s smile everyday through small acts of kindness
• Create an environment where the teams have fun and ensure high levels of creativity and professionalism.
