Job Description
Wilkinson Ecological Design, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager - Traveling to oversee land management plans and restoration project designs in Orleans, IN. The role involves managing project phases, collaborating with departments, preparing design documents, and leading presentations at regulatory meetings. Candidates should have a degree in a related field and relevant experience, with skills in project management, ecological restoration, and familiarity with regulatory compliance.
The Project Manager oversees and manages the development of land management plans, design of restoration projects and the implementation of projects during the design phase. S/he works closely with all departments to carry out the goals and priorities of the client and company in the permitting and design phases, and manages the transition through to the construction phase.
THE PROJECT MANAGER’S DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Apply a high level of technical expertise in ecological restoration and environmental permitting to ensure that WED consistently produces the highest quality of work. This includes performing all work in a manner that is based on current scientific findings, scientifically-defensible arguments, and techniques related to professional land management and ecological restoration;
Work with Design to develop design plans and project strategies within the parameters of the consulting contracts;
Serve as the lead in the preparation of design documents for permit applications. This includes conducting field assessments and reviewing site analyses;
Potentially lead presentations on behalf of clients and in collaboration with the project team at regulatory review meetings (primarily local-level Conservation Commission public hearings) for the purpose of discussing the technical aspects, ecological benefits and services, implementation approach, and regulatory compliance of WED-developed projects;
Oversee project estimates and proposals prepared by estimating staff;
Work with Restoration Staff in the preparation of land management, restoration plans, and related documentation for permitting and construction purposes;
Lead and collaborate with environmental technicians and crew leaders in various types of active land management activities and/or restoration planting projects;
Manage multiple projects in all phases of design and construction;
Develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with regulatory review agency representatives;
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies, or related field of study, coupled with 3+ years of relevant experience or High School Diploma or GED Certificate and 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience should be in a project management role in construction, landscape construction, or environmental consulting.
~ Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management or related field desirable.Expertise in presenting projects before regulatory compliance review boards seeking project approvals is desirable. Familiarity/Experience with Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, Regulations, and Policies as well as local wetland protection Bylaws and Regulation and local Conservation Commission project review procedures.
~ Familiarity with landscape construction and ecological restoration.
~ Knowledge of invasive plant species and control/management techniques and Cape Cod native plant communities.
~ Familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is desirable.
~ Microsoft Office proficiency.
~ Team player with demonstrated relationship-building skills.
~ Self-directed with demonstrated time management, strategic thinking and planning skills.
~ Work schedules may also include occasional evenings and weekends. This job will have exposure to occupational hazards such as tick-borne illnesses, biting and stinging insects, and strenuous outdoor activity in a variety of adverse weather conditions
