William Charles Construction is hiring a Project Manager for High Voltage projects in the renewable energy sector, focusing on substation and transmission line construction. The role involves extensive travel (up to 75%) across the U.S., primarily in Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois. Candidates should have 3-5 years of relevant experience and a valid driver's license. The position allows for remote work from any U.S. location, with per diem and company vehicle provided.
Overview:
William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking a skilled Project Manager to join our Clean Energy & Infrastructure High Voltage Group. In this vital role, you will oversee substation and transmission line electrical construction projects within the renewable energy sectors, including wind and solar. Your focus will be on project management from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring that timelines and budgets are met efficiently.
This position requires extensive travel—up to 75%, approximately three weeks or 15 days per month—using personal and commercial transport options. You'll be required to stay in public accommodations during your travels. Successful candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
This role may be based in any location across the United States, with projects mainly in Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois, but may extend to other states. We provide designated per diem to help cover travel-related living expenses along with a company vehicle and fuel card.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the safety team to establish and implement site-specific safety programs and policies.
• Develop a Project Execution Plan with pre-construction and operational teams to guide contract management, resource planning, procurement, and schedule management.
• Monitor and report financials, including cost tracking, revenue projections, change orders, and invoicing while maintaining comprehensive project records.
• Oversee the procurement and management of materials and subcontracts, ensuring proper invoicing and cost management.
• Conduct monthly cost projection analyses.
• Engage in pre-construction planning with project teams, focusing on risk assessment and opportunities.
• Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are acquired.
• Manage project documentation, ensuring thorough record-keeping of submittals, RFIs, and meeting notes.
• Communicate effectively with contracting parties and owner representatives.
• Facilitate project closeout, including final documentation and financial reconciliations.
• Build strong relationships within local markets and interact with project teams and management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Project Manager I:
• High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred). Relevant experience can substitute for formal education.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction, with a strong grasp of construction techniques and project management.
Project Manager II:
• High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred). Relevant experience can substitute for formal education.
• 5+ years of experience in Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction, demonstrating solid understanding of construction methods and project management.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Familiarity with project management software (Procore, Build2Win, MS Project, P6, HCSS).
• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to interpret contracts and legal documents.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven leadership qualities with experience in managing teams.
• Understanding of job cost accounting principles.
• Thorough knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
• Ability to commit to 75% travel and possess a valid driver's license.
