Job Description

Universal Engineering Sciences is hiring a Project Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist for their Kennesaw, GA location. The role involves conducting fieldwork for wetland delineations, environmental inspections, and sampling, with occasional travel. Job Responsibilities:

Your day as a Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist at Contour will be both challenging and rewarding. During which, you will have the opportunity to create lasting relationships with your team members. On a typical day, you can be expected to:

Conduct field work for wetland delineations, threatened species investigations, and plant community identification and mapping.

Conduct environmental due diligence inspections for industrial and commercial transactions, including standard Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM standards and prepare custom reports tailored to client-specific needs.

Conduct fieldwork such as surface water and groundwater sampling, soil and sediment sampling, monitoring well installation, contractor oversight, and remediation treatment system operation and maintenance.

Travel to facilities for site visits, including both local and non-local travel. Overnight travel would not be expected to exceed 25%.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

Familiarity with Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, UST, HSRA, and Brownfield projects and associated rules and regulations.

Support multiple projects and meet high quality standards on project deliverables.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in biology, Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related accredited program is required.

· 1-4 years of related professional experience is highly preferred.

Consulting experience preferred.

Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.

Proficiency with GPS and basic computer software (Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Ability and willingness to collaborate and support other team members by successfully working alongside others and contribute to overall team success.

Working knowledge of federal & state environmental regulations (Section 404 Clean Water Act, GAEPD USTMP, HSRA, Brownfield) and good research skills and abilities.

Strong oral & written communication skills, including strong proficiency in technical report writing with high attention to detail and quality.

Ability to deliver accurate, results oriented, high-quality, and timely work products with great attention to detail.

Effective self-starter with ability to demonstrate effective time management skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments in a dynamic work environment while maintaining high attention to detail and quality to meet deadlines within budget.

Familiarity with communicating to the client in business terms the environmental and regulatory liabilities and associated implications pertaining to the associated transaction.

Ability and willingness to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.

· Valid driver’s license

· Must pass background and drug test and have a satisfactory driving record.

Engineer-in Training (EIT), Geologist-in-Training (GIT), and/or other applicable certifications.

40-hour HAZWOPER or 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training.
