The role involves developing and improving Environmental Systems related to the LNG facility's operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing environment projects. About the Role

The Asset Environment Project Engineer/Specialist will report to the Environment & Compliance Lead (Asset) and be part of a team responsible for development, implementation and continual improvement of Environmental Systems and Programs related to operation of the LNG Facility in Kitimat.

The successful candidate will work closely with other functions within the organization including maintenance and turnaround, brownfield projects, regulatory and permitting. The role will be based in Kitimat. This role is expected to be in place for two years during the Operations Phase.

The Environment Project Engineer/Specialist will be responsible for planning, executing and closing environment projects. This will include developing and implementing project plans, coordinating project teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and consulting with first nation stakeholders. The role will also manage existing environment project portfolios, obtain required permits, identify project materials and vendors, conduct environmental training, and perform field inspections.

You will use your expertise to:
• Identifying and managing project risks and issues.
• Consulting with clients and stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
• Ensuring projects comply with district, provisional and federal environmental regulations. Collaborating with legal teams to ensure projects are legally sound and defensible.
• Applying for and maintaining necessary environmental permits.
• Developing and implementing environmental project plans. Collaborate with C&P and finance team to verify and analyse schedules, budget, spend, progress curves, labour needs and outlooks for the various projects, address deviation against stage plans.
• Coordinating and overseeing the work of contractor project teams.
• Monitoring project progress and making necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion. Communicating with team members, clients, and stakeholders about project status and changes.
• Preparing project reports and documentation. Report and communicate weekly & monthly status, prepare reports and executive summaries for Leadership Team.
• Conducting environmental impact assessments and audits; Working with technology team to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
• Develop and monitor (leading and lagging) KPIs, prevent performance issues and identify issues early followed by driving for improvement internally and with contractors, escalate where needed. Providing expert advice on environmental issues and sustainability practices.
• Build project learnings register after a comprehensive review of lessons learned.
• Input and contribute to the Manage Threats and Opportunities (MTO) work process, which will enable prioritization of the project funnel for the LNG Canda Asset.

To be successful, you will have:
• 8 years of proven experience as a Project Engineer managing offset environment projects or similar role.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience with LNG, oil and gas or other industrial operations experience ideally as an environmental Engineering.
• Experience developing and executing details plans for offset projects, ensuring they meet environmental Standards and regulatory requirement.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Civil earth works, or relevant field,
• Project Management accreditation is a definite asset
• Demonstrated contract management experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations and policies. Working knowledge of Canadian and British Columbia Environmental Regulatory requirements.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments and audits.
• Proficiency in project management software.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills towards building relationships in a dynamic, integrated, diverse/multi-cultural environment.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced project environment.
• Excellent data management skills.
• Commissioning and start-up experience an asset.
• Experience with Environment offsets, wildlife, fisheries, and/or contamination management
• Environmental Management System experience, preferably ISO 14001 and/or Shell HSSE & SP Control Framework
• A thorough understanding of key HSSE risks and associated mitigations for oil and gas operations

This role requires that you:
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
• Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, this role will result in temporarily relocating to Kitimat, in which accommodations will be provided by LNG Canada. • Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
• Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
• This role is expected to end approximately March 2027. This is a full-time role with benefits, this is not a contractor role.
• Work 40 hours. per week
• Know that there will be an increased work intensity during Commissioning and Start-up into Early Operations until Steady State Operations are achieved
• This is Not a fly in fly out role
