Clark Dietz is seeking a Project Engineer/Manager for Transportation Engineering in New Albany, IN. The role involves managing roadway/trail improvement projects, overseeing design calculations, and ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget. Candidates must have a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Indiana PE, and 8+ years of experience. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer to join our New Albany, IN office. This position will collaborate with other staff to plan, design and manage transportation and related projects located in Indiana
Primary Responsibilities
• Manages and contributes to the development of plans and design elements for roadway/trail improvement projects for INDOT and LPA clients throughout Indiana.
• Oversees and performs design calculations and quality control for roadway/trail geometrics, hydraulics, MOT, and quantity calculations.
• Develops or reviews construction cost estimates.
• Coordinates project workflow and delegates tasks to engineers and technicians.
• Manages compliance with scope, schedule, and budget on assigned projects.
• Prepares monthly billing directions for their projects.
• Implements quality assurance and control procedures to ensure quality in all deliverables.
• Collaborates with Client Relations and Marketing staff to identify project opportunities.
• Leads or assists in the development of proposals, project approach and scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects.
• Interacts with clients to understand project objectives, constraints and deliverables
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
• B.S Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation projects and Indiana PE are required.
• 8+ years of progressive experience as a project engineer is required.
• Experience delegating tasks to Engineers and Technicians
• Roadway design experience for INDOT and/or LPA projects is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the INDOT Design Manual, INDOT Standards, INDOT project development process, permitting and environmental requirements are required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to represent the firm with clients and partners and lead or participate in presentations and public meetings.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work as part of a team across multiple offices.
• Demonstrated ability to complete tasks on time and within budget while delivering high value to our clients.
• Previous experience with one or more of the following software tools is required; ORD, MicroStation V8i, GEOPAK,.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel) is required.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to client meetings and project sites as needed.

As an employee-owned firm, Clark Dietz offers a flexible work/life balance, hybrid WFH schedule and an excellent compensation and benefits package including: Starting salary range $87,880 - $117,104 + hiring bonus, annual bonus, comprehensive insurance benefits, education & professional license reimbursement, 401k & ESOP plans, and individual ownership opportunity.
