About the position

The Project Engineer for Renewable and Resilient Generation at Georgia Power is responsible for providing technical support, project management, and design recommendations for renewable energy projects. This role involves overseeing capital and operations & maintenance (O&M) projects, ensuring efficient operations, and contributing to long-term planning and maintenance strategies. The engineer will also support fleet initiatives, troubleshoot technical challenges, and assist in the development of maintenance plans and budgets.

Responsibilities
• Provide site/project management, long term maintenance strategies and technical support to the Renewable and Resilient Fleet
,
• Provide Technical Support for Operations and Maintenance, engaging team leaders and site technicians
,
• Track system performance and manage KPIs for the Fleet
,
• Support R&R Fleet for budget development and tracking
,
• Utilize work management tools and conduct Root Cause Analyses
,
• Support new development sites and transition to Operations
,
• Provide support for Cyber Security compliance
,
• Partner with various stakeholders to communicate plant needs
,
• Attend industry conferences to ensure efficient operations
,
• Ensure effective communication with all support resources and stakeholders
,
• Build relationships within the fleet.

Requirements
• B.S. in Engineering from an ABET accredited program/institution is required
,
• B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred
,
• M.S. in Business or Engineering is a plus
,
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
,
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
,
• 3-5 years of technical experience within Southern Company or Industrial experience
,
• Experience in power delivery, power generation, I&C, cyber security, environmental, regulatory, and renewable project development
,
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating, planning, and budgeting of capital and O&M projects
,
• Experience in an industrial utility environment is preferred
,
• Demonstrated project management experience.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in renewable energy and/or storage resource technologies
,
• Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn software applications quickly
,
• Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative
,
• Ability to interface with vendors and contractors
,
• Ability to network and utilize subject matter experts
