Tighe and Bond is seeking a Project Engineer for Water/Wastewater in Portsmouth, NH. As a Project Engineer, you will join our One Water Team in either the Portsmouth, NH or Portland, ME office, where you'll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Our One Water Team and Projects
Our team of 160 dedicated water professionals has earned multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards. We partner with private, state, and local government clients to enhance drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring reliable and sustainable systems for communities.
As part of our team, you'll help plan, design, and administer the construction of new and upgraded conveyance systems, treatment plants, and pump stations. You'll support clients with capital improvement planning, hydraulic modeling, and asset management programs. Our work also includes Long-Term CSO Control Plans, Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans, Integrated Water Resource Management Plans, and Sewer System Evaluation Studies-driving smarter, more resilient water solutions.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Project Engineer, you will leverage your engineering expertise to support the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast. Your role will involve:
• Assisting with the development of drawings, specifications, opinions of cost, and reports, from conceptual planning to construction
• Engaging in technical discussions about design approaches, budget considerations, and schedule, promoting achievement of client goals on both design-bid-build and design-build projects
• Collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary project teams to develop high-quality deliverables that align with client needs and regulatory requirements
• Delegating tasks effectively, mentoring staff engineers, and managing priorities to meet project milestones
• Participating in field work, including site visits, data collection and some construction observation
• Upholding Tighe & Bond's commitment to excellence by delivering innovative and sustainable water and wastewater solutions

What does a Project Engineer need?
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering field
• At least five years of consulting engineering experience with increasing responsibility in the water or wastewater industry
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within six months
• Enthusiasm for learning, self-motivation, and strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a relevant field
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Revit on water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers
• Additional licensure in multiple states to support diverse project needs
