Job Description
Tighe & Bond is seeking a Project Engineer for Ecological Restoration, supporting clients in the northeast. The role involves site planning, design, permitting, and construction services for habitat restoration projects. Responsibilities include fieldwork, design using AutoCAD, preparing specifications and reports, and business development. A BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering and consulting experience are required. The position offers a hybrid remote work environment with flexible summer Fridays.
About the position
As a valuable member of our inclusive One Water team, you will support our clients throughout the northeast while sitting in our Sandwich, Westfield, Worcester, Westwood, or Portsmouth offices. We offer a hybrid remote work environment and flexible Fridays in the summer. Our Ecological Restoration Team and Projects are passionate about designing and advancing habitat restoration and community resilience projects throughout the northeast, focusing on projects in our "neighborhood." We deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions from concept to construction. Our interdisciplinary project teams strive to increase resiliency and stream ecological function by working on the design of river restoration, dam removal, dam repair, freshwater and coastal wetland restoration, fish passage, culvert replacement, and floodplain reconnection projects. As a Project Engineer, you will participate in site planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services for restoration projects. Your role will involve performing field work, which could include collecting field measurements, sediment probing or sampling, flow data collection, geotechnical boring observation, and dam inspection. You may also assist with dam repair and dredging projects. Your responsibilities will include undertaking design using AutoCAD, computer modeling, preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates, preparation of reports and correspondence, construction observation, shop drawing and submittal review, and creation of record drawings. Additionally, you will assist with business development for new projects and clients. To be a successful Project Engineer, you should feel comfortable taking on and delegating many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks for yourself and other Staff Engineers through completion.
Responsibilities
• Participate in site planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services for restoration projects.

• Perform field work including collecting field measurements, sediment probing or sampling, flow data collection, geotechnical boring observation, and dam inspection.

• Assist with dam repair and dredging projects as needed.
,
• Undertake design using AutoCAD and computer modeling.
,
• Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates for projects.
,
• Prepare reports and correspondence related to projects.
,
• Conduct construction observation and review shop drawings and submittals.
,
• Create record drawings for completed projects.
,
• Assist with business development for new projects and clients.
Requirements
• At least four years of consulting engineering experience in the water industry.
,
• A BS degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a related field is required; an MS degree is preferred.
,
• PE license or the ability to obtain one in the next 6 months is required.
,
• At least three years of experience working on the design of ecological restoration projects is preferred.
,
• Experience in hydrology and hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering design, wetland science, or fluvial geomorphology is beneficial.
,
• Experience using AutoCAD is required; familiarity with modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, PeakFQ, and HydroCAD is preferred.

• Experience with GIS is a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
