About the position
The Program Manager for Impact Investments at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania plays a crucial role in the strategic planning and execution of impact investment programs. This position is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in investing in environmentally and socially impactful companies. The Program Manager will oversee two primary programs: the Wharton Impact Venture Associate (WIVA) program and the Penn Medicine Wharton Fund for Health (FFH) program. The WIVA program focuses on training students in impact investing by channeling investments from crowdfunding platforms into impactful companies, particularly in areas such as climate change and artificial intelligence. The FFH program, in partnership with Penn Medicine, aims to address social determinants of health through strategic investments. In this role, the Program Manager will collaborate closely with the Head of Impact Investments and various stakeholders, including students, expert consultants, and early-stage entrepreneurs. The responsibilities include defining project scopes, developing comprehensive project plans, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. The Program Manager will also be responsible for measuring project success through both quantitative and qualitative methods, leading meetings, mentoring student teams, and managing relationships with key stakeholders. This position requires a strong focus on quality and stakeholder satisfaction, as well as the ability to foster professional growth among students involved in the programs. The Program Manager will also be tasked with designing student impact investing teams, facilitating regular check-ins, and addressing any challenges that arise during the execution of the programs. This role is pivotal in shaping the educational experience of students and ensuring that they gain valuable insights and skills in the field of impact investing.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the Head of Impact Investments to define project scope, goals, budgets, and deliverables each semester.

• Develop and monitor comprehensive project plans for WIVA and FFH, including tasks, milestones, and deliverables.

• Design and implement risk mitigation and compliance plans to ensure adherence to legal standards.
,
• Measure project success using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
,
• Attend and lead up to six one-hour virtual WIVA or FFH meetings weekly, where students pitch potential impact investment opportunities.
,
• Manage and share expertise with students.
,
• Support, manage, and motivate a team of expert consultants.
,
• Monitor and communicate potential legal risks to supervisors and senior staff promptly.
,
• Lead, coach, and motivate investment team members (students) proactively.
,
• Design and create student impact investing teams by assessing their expertise, skill sets, potential, and motivation.
,
• Mentor and guide student teams, providing necessary skills and knowledge for success, with a preference for impact investing expertise.
,
• Facilitate regular check-ins with student teams alongside the program coordinator to monitor progress and address challenges.
,
• Manage sensitive relationships with Penn Medicine, crowdfunding platforms, impact investing experts, and other key stakeholders.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the programs.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Business, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience required; 5 years within a venture or impact investment environment preferred.
,
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
,
• Proven experience with data analysis.
,
• At least 1 year of investing-related experience.
,
• Experience in mentoring or managing student teams is highly desirable, but interest in doing this is required.
