About the position

The Program Director for the Sustainability Learning Community at the University of Vermont plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for students interested in sustainability. This position is a collaboration between Residential Life and Academic Affairs and Student Success, where the director will oversee the daily operations of the learning community. The director will be responsible for providing leadership and ensuring the success of the community, which includes managing the curriculum, budgeting, and assessment processes throughout the academic year. The Program Director will work closely with designated program coordinators to develop and implement educational programming that aligns with the institution's mission and enhances the academic experience of students. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Program Director will engage with campus housing and residential life best practices, particularly those related to sustainability. This includes joining national organizations, attending relevant conferences, and collaborating with peer institutions to stay informed about trends and innovations in sustainability education. The director will also lead marketing and recruitment efforts for the Sustainability Learning Community, working in coordination with the Marketing and Strategic Communications team to attract students who are passionate about sustainability. The role requires a commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment. The Program Director will support co-curricular, service, cultural, and social programs that enhance the learning experience and community engagement. Regular evening and weekend hours are expected to accommodate on-campus programming efforts, and the position is structured as an 11-month role, running from July 1 to May 31.

Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and ensure the success of day-to-day operations of the Sustainability Learning Community.

• Oversee budgeting and assessment processes for the learning community.

• Lead marketing, recruitment, and assessment activities for the Sustainability Learning Community in coordination with Marketing and Strategic Communications.

• Participate in national organizations and attend conferences to stay informed about sustainability trends.

Requirements
• Master's degree in a relevant field.

• Three to five years of experience in residence life, learning communities, or equivalent supervisory experience.

Benefits
• Competitive salary range of $55,000 - $56,650 for an 11-month position.
