Description: HMEI Research and Teaching Laboratory Manager The High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI) at Princeton University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research and Teaching Laboratory Manager to oversee its Environmental Studies undergraduate research and teaching laboratories, particularly in the key disciplines of Oceanography, Biogeochemical Cycles, and Climate Systems. The Research and Teaching Laboratory Manager will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professional Specialist or Professional Specialist, depending on qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate should possess substantial expertise in oceanic nitrogen cycles, ocean circulation, and carbon cycling in the context of climate change. A comprehensive understanding of climate science, including extreme weather phenomena, hurricanes, and ocean-atmosphere interactions, is critical. Knowledge of detection and attribution techniques related to climate change and the interplay between climate dynamics and marine biogeochemistry is also essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in numerical modeling and statistical methodologies for interpreting in-situ and satellite observations. Additionally, the role involves contributing to interdisciplinary research focused on the nexus of climate variability and infectious diseases. Beyond research and teaching responsibilities, the Lab Manager will actively engage in curriculum development, pedagogical activities, and the supervision of laboratory operations. Essential Qualifications: A Master's degree in natural sciences, oceanography, climate science, or a related field is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of research experience in oceanography, biogeochemistry, or climate science, focusing on climate change and oceanic systems. Proven experience in curriculum development and instructional activities within an academic environment. Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively manage laboratory activities and mentor both students and researchers. Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Natural Sciences or a related field with a specialization in Oceanography, Biogeochemical Cycles, or Climate Systems. Knowledge of detection and attribution techniques related to climate change and marine biogeochemistry. Expertise in modeling climate variability and extreme weather events, along with their impacts on ecosystems and public health. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. The initial term of this appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
