Primally Pure is hiring a Process Technician (R&D Cosmetics) in Murrieta, CA. The role involves managing product development projects, overseeing pilot runs, conducting laboratory tests, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience in R&D Chemistry or Process Technician roles within the cosmetics or FDA-regulated industries.

T H E J O B
R O L E S + R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S
The Process Technician is responsible for completing projects based on the workflow assigned by the Product Development Manager. Serves as liaison between Product Development and Operations in the scale-up of new products and troubleshooting of existing products and batches. Creates and manages transfer procedure of formulations in scale-up process. Conducts various chemical and physical laboratory testing on finished goods and prototype formulas for such purposes as process development, product stability, and quantitative and qualitative performance analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Promotes a safe working environment and adheres to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with the company’s objectives and policies at all times.
• Oversees and supervises pilot runs/batches and the first three production runs to ensure successful transition of new formulas to Operations.
• Monitors production personnel and makes recommendations to improve the process.
• Provides batch support to Production team
• Assists in modifying batch ticket instructions & production processing instructions to ensure bulk results adhere to specifications
• Troubleshoots, adjusts batches, and validates/modifies specifications as necessary
• Expands specifications needed for formula/product yield.
• Collaborates and supports process engineering initiatives.
• Calibrates Lab Equipment as needed.
• Assists Product Development Management with company audits or in preparation of audits.
• Assist Quality personnel as needed
• Attends meetings and seminars with various sales representatives and vendors.
• Flexible and willing to perform other duties as needed (fill lab batches into components, prepare evaluation sheets and labels).
• The Management may assign other duties

I D E A L C A N D I D A T E C H A R A C T E R I S T I C S
When we consider the ideal candidate for this role, these are the top qualities that come to mind:
• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Cosmetic Science is required.
• Minimum 3+ years’ R&D Chemistry Formulation or Process Technician role in Consumer Products; preferably in cosmetics process manufacturing or an FDA-regulated industry.
• Experience in writing functional testing SOPs following good documentation practices (GDP) and Good Lab Practices (GLP).
• Knowledge of consumer trends, product innovations, and development processes preferred.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations (FDA, CTFA, PCPC) for formulation.
• Strong knowledge in the aspects of Compounding, Production, Regulatory, and Quality.
• Formulation experience in developing Hair Care, Personal Care, and Skin Care products such as natural/clean Products, creams, lotions, waxes, non-aerosol, etc. Developing new product innovation is a plus.
• Advanced reporting, designing, and data analytic skills. Strong math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
