Job Description
BBA is seeking a Process Engineer specializing in Biofuels and Energy Transition in Vancouver, BC. The role involves implementing projects in the Oil, Gas, and Biofuels sectors, developing process designs, supervising teams, and preparing technical reports. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, 5-10 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in process simulation software. BBA is currently seeking a chemical engineer to join a team that offers high-quality expertise and consulting services. As an engineer, you will be required to implement projects in the Oil, Gas and Biofuels sector as well as build and strengthen client relationships.

• Develop process design basics and criteria
• Apply established calculation and design methods
• Produce mass and energy balances using simulation software
• Design and determine specifications for process equipment
• Supervise a team of engineers, where required
• Help with project cost estimates
• Perform equipment commissioning and performance testing
• Perform inspections or technical surveys
• Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Prepare technical reports
• Participate in risk studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, What-if)
• Participate in technical and economic feasibility studies
• Review and verify process engineering deliverables produced by other team members
• Prepare proposals and client presentations
• Participate in developing and growing the capabilities of the process team and the firm

Overview of certifications and job requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
• From 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the Oil, Gas and Biofuels industry
• Registered engineer from a Canadian engineering association
• Solid statistical and analytical knowledge
• Excellent knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics
• Interest in the environment and energy transition
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
• Proficient with Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS process simulation software
• Proficient with Fathom and PIPE-FLO simulation software for hydraulic calculations
• Excellent written and spoken communication (English and French)
• Asset: experience in consulting and established clientele
• Asset: experience with methanation, LNG, pyrolysis, gasification and other processes involving hydrocarbons, biofuels and bioplastics
