Essential Energy is hiring a Principal Engineer for their Electrical Safety team in New South Wales, Australia. The role involves developing and implementing internal safety procedures, improving electrical safety outcomes, and managing stakeholder relationships. Candidates should have a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and strong stakeholder management skills. About the role
We are currently recruiting a Principal Engineer to join the Electrical Safety team, in the Organisational Safety group. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s footprint.
As a Principal Engineer, you are responsible for the authorship, review, administration and implementation of critical internal procedures owned by the Electrical Safety Office, such as Essential Energy’s Safety Rules.
Using your experience and knowledge, you will improve electrical safety outcomes, respond to electrical safety questions, assist in investigating incidents involving the network and monitor electrical safety compliance of authorised workers (internal, Accredited Service Providers and Contract Service Providers).
Key responsibilities:
Identify, establish and foster key business, regulatory body, stakeholder and customer relationships
• Provide specialised engineering services in the research, identification, development, design and implementation of key engineering analysis for the Energy network
• Strategically plan, approve and implement Energy Network projects to budget and time
• Research, identify, develop and implement business unit opportunities that align with business strategies and promote service delivery for our customers
About You
You will be a people orientated and commercially focused professional with a strong focus on stakeholder management. You will have the ability to influence and work collaboratively across a diverse group to ensure a sustainable approach based on future business needs. You will keep abreast of industry developments including new or amended regulatory requirements, standards, codes, guidelines, technologies, tools, plant, equipment and methods associated with work on the electricity network.
You will have the skills and knowledge to provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders and represent the broader organisation on relevant committees.
Required Qualification
• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent to satisfy graduate membership to the Institution of Engineers Australia
• Driver licence
• Attainment and ongoing successful maintenance of all regulatory, industry and business required licences, authorisations and other such certificates deemed necessary for the role
Desirable
• Post graduate qualifications in electrical engineering
• Degree in Business Administration
