Job Description

EQ Search is seeking a Principal Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Consultant in London to lead the development of climate services for clients in the Built Environment and Infrastructure sector. Responsibilities include assessing climate change impacts, identifying risks, developing investable solutions, and producing reports for diverse stakeholders. Candidates should have relevant academic qualifications and experience in climate modelling and consulting. The role offers opportunities for career development in sustainability.
Overview of role

This is a very exciting opportunity to lead on the development and delivery of Climate Adaptation and Mitigation services. You will be working for a global company in the Built Environment and Infrastructure sector who deliver end-to-end services. Using leading Climate science data and modelling tools you will work directly with Private and Public sector clients to model and design their climate adaptation and mitigation strategies that can then also be fully actioned and implemented.

Role responsibilities and requirements
• Lead the development of a modelling solution to assess climate change impacts on buildings and infrastructure
• Identify risks associated with climate adaptation of customers at asset and portfolio level, including material risk to assets and operations on climate change driven factors such as flood risk and extreme temperature events
• Development of proposals of appropriate investable solutions including physical, digital or organisational
• Production of high-quality reports and presentations that communicate effectively the complex climate analysis to diverse stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences
• Maintain current knowledge of climate science developments through active engagement with subject matter experts, academic publications and research institutions
• Contribute to the development of new analytical tools and services that enhance organisational climate risk assessment capabilities.

Key skills and qualities needed

Experience:
• Postgraduate degree in Climate Science, Environmental Science, or related field (Preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in environment related applied science is essential
• Strong professional experience in climate modelling, preferably at asset and macro level.
• Considerable experience working in commercial or consulting environments delivering technical projects.
• Understanding of Real Estate / Infrastructure is desirable
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Experience engaging with academic research and applying findings to practical applications in buildings and / or infrastructure.
• Professional certifications in relevant technical tools or methodologies desirable.
