Your new role

A Power System Engineer at this company ensures the efficiency, reliability, and safety of electrical power systems, focusing on large-scale wind, solar, and BESS projects.

Key responsibilities include:

Design and Analysis:
• Design and analyse power systems for stability and reliability.
• Create system models and simulations.
Grid Connection Studies:
• Facilitate the connection of new energy projects to the grid.
• Ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
Feasibility Studies and Project Modelling:
• Assess the viability of new projects.
• Optimise project design.
Technical Due Diligence:
• Evaluate the technical aspects and risks of new developments.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Align commercial goals with technical needs.
• Prepare technical documentation and client deliverables.
Research and Development:
• Implement new methodologies and technologies.
• Develop and maintain software tools for analysis.
Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
• Responding to system outages and troubleshooting issues.
Business Development:
• Foster business opportunities and build a professional network.
• Expand and develop new business capabilities.
Process Improvement:
• Enhance internal procedures and tools based on experience and feedback.

What you will need to succeed
• 1–3 years working in a power systems consultancy or similar.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Expertise in power system simulation tools (PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory)
• Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C++
• At least 1–2 years dedicated to power systems' analysis for grid connection of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Australia.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electricity Rules, particularly Chapter 5
• Exceptional analytical abilities with a methodical approach to engineering issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• A proactive, positive attitude that excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
