Job Summary

Lead environmental impact assessment and permitting for renewable energy facilities throughout the Ohio River Valley as a Principal Consultant, Power. Oversee complex development projects in the power sector and possess technical expertise in leading environmental reviews under NEPA.

Develop and implement permitting strategies for renewable projects, analyzing potential variances and working with developers to optimize layouts based on local permitting requirements.

Focus on environmental impact assessment and federal, state, and local permitting to facilitate the development, construction, and operation of commercial-scale energy facilities. Work independently and with teams of subject matter experts to manage varying priorities and multiple tasks while meeting concurrent deadlines.
Main Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards for renewable energy and tech sector development projects.
• Prepare and submit permitting documents for energy/industrial facility development, expansion, maintenance, or decommissioning.
• Develop and maintain discipline-specific reports, permitting documents, NEPA documents, and state-level environmental reviews consistent with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical expertise on permitting strategies, due diligence reviews, environmental critical issues assessments, and quality control review.
• Support business development and contribute to expanding our renewable projects and team.
• Collaborate with other professionals to execute impact assessment and capital project permitting.
Essential Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in environmental studies, environmental management, wetland science, planning, geography, or related natural resources science field of study.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in project management, licensing, and permitting in the power sector throughout the Ohio River Valley.
• Experience with federal, state, and local permitting, including preparation of applications and documents related to renewable energy projects.
• Ability to research and prepare concise technical documents and present findings to clients, stakeholders, and/or regulatory agencies.
• Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• Ability to multitask, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
