Position description
Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics informs public and private decision making through technical, economic, and policy analysis of energy-related topics. Staff within the department employ a range of interdisciplinary methods and tools appropriate to the topic at hand, including primary data, economic, and statistical analyses; modeling; and survey and interview-based research. We are conducting cost-effectiveness analysis and modeling to understand the potential growth in non-CO2 GHGs and climate super pollutants.
The current initiative seeks to 1) conduct deeper techno-economic analysis of methane and other non-CO2 GHG mitigation measures and evaluate their cost-effectiveness under China-specific context, 2) develop a deep mitigation and policy constraints scenario to understand the potential and benefits for additional reductions beyond current mitigation measures, and 3) develop a roadmap in reducing methane emissions in China before 2030.
Under the direction of the supervisor, this position will:
● Conduct research and use quantitative methodologies to analyze the cost-effectiveness of mitigation measures and policies for climate super pollutant emissions (including specifically methane, F-gases, N2O, and black carbon) in various sectors and relevant mitigation measures.
● Help conduct literature review and data collection to support the development of modeling parameters and inputs for emission mitigation scenarios, conduct cost-effectiveness and marginal cost of abatement analyses
● Prepare scientific reports
● Conduct related technology and policy research.
