The University of Prince Edward Island is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation. The role involves leading research projects on climate smart agriculture, publishing findings, and supervising students. Candidates should have a PhD in a climate-related field and experience in sustainability and climate change. The position is located in Charlottetown, PE, Canada, with an annual salary of $45,000.
The Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (CCCCA) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking one Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on several research projects related to climate smart agriculture. The annual salary for the position is $45,000 including benefits. The CCCCA is a 45,000 square-foot research facility located in the community of St. Peter’s Bay, PEI. The facility and the lands surrounding it serve as a living laboratory that allows for unlimited access to nearby wetlands, forests, and coastal habitats. The CCCCA is a world leading research and teaching center in understanding and adapting to climate change impacts.
The responsibilities of this position will include:
• Leading on several research projects related to climate change, health interactions and sustainability e.g., sustainable tourism, mental and physical health, climate change impacts on populations, exploration of climate adaptation pathways using community-based approaches;
• publishing research results on a timely manner in high-impact journals;
• writing project reports and research proposals;
• organizing meetings/webinars/conferences; and
• supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
The successful candidate for this position should meet the following criteria:
• hold a PhD degree in a climate-related field (e.g., environmental sciences);
• have published peer-reviewed papers in the top-tier journals in the field of climate science;
• have expertise in data analysis and interpretation for data-driven decision making in climate change adaptation;
• have demonstrated experience in sustainability, and climate change;
• be self-motivated and have strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated experience with managing multiple tasks;
• be willing to collaborate and work with an interdisciplinary research team; and
• have previous research experience about PEI’s climate change issues (this is not required but will be a great asset for consideration).
