Job Description
The China International Water and Electricity Company is seeking a certified Pollution Control Officer (PCO) in Antipolo City, Rizal, Philippines. The PCO will ensure compliance with environmental laws, implement pollution control measures, conduct site inspections, and provide training on environmental practices. Qualifications include a degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, PCO certification, and at least one year of relevant experience. This is a full-time position with a salary of Php25,000.

The Pollution Control Officer (PCO) plays a crucial role in ensuring that the construction company's projects comply with environmental laws, regulations, and standards. The PCO is responsible for monitoring, implementing, and managing environmental control measures to mitigate pollution and reduce the environmental impact of construction activities. They work closely with project teams, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to promote environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure that the company complies with all relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permits (such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Hazardous Waste Management Act).
• Prepare and submit necessary reports and documentation to government agencies (e.g., Department of Environment and Natural Resources or equivalent local agency).
• Stay up-to-date with changes in environmental laws and ensure the company adapts accordingly.
Pollution Control Plan Implementation:
• Develop and implement pollution control plans to address air, water, and land pollution.
• Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Ensure that all pollution control equipment is functioning properly and maintained regularly.
Environmental Monitoring & Reporting:
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor compliance with environmental standards and report any violations or issues.
• Measure and monitor air and water quality, noise levels, and waste disposal at construction sites.
• Prepare detailed environmental reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
Training & Awareness:
• Provide training to employees and subcontractors on pollution control measures, proper waste management, and environmental protection practices.
• Promote environmental awareness and ensure employees are aware of their responsibilities regarding pollution control.
Incident Management:
• Respond promptly to any environmental incidents or emergencies (e.g., oil spills, chemical leaks) and ensure proper mitigation measures are taken.
• Investigate environmental incidents and report findings to the management, along with recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
Coordination with Stakeholders:
• Collaborate with government bodies, environmental agencies, and local communities to address environmental concerns.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site personnel to integrate pollution control measures into construction plans.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Certified Pollution Control Officer (PCO) with accreditation from the relevant regulatory body (e.g., DENR).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental management, preferably in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and standards related to construction activities.
• Experience with pollution control technology and systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Proficiency in report writing and the use of relevant monitoring and reporting tools.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Php25,000.00 - Php28,000.00 per month
