About the position

The Policy and Advocacy Intern for Climate and Security Risk at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will support the organization's efforts to address the interlinkages between climate change and security. This role involves assisting with policy and advocacy work, data collection, analysis, and communication efforts aimed at promoting climate action and sustaining peace. The intern will work under the supervision of the Team Leader - Climate Security Risk, contributing to various tasks that enhance UNDP's mission in climate resilience and security.

Responsibilities
• Assisting with policy and advocacy work, including collecting data from projects and drafting communications materials.

• Supporting the collection of information related to policy and programme support and developing a compendium of good practices in climate, peace, and security.

• Conducting basic research, including collecting, analyzing, and presenting statistical data from diverse sources.
,
• Supporting data analytics visualizations and preparing infographics/factsheets.
,
• Drafting posts to promote events and publications on UNDP's social media accounts.
,
• Assisting in administrative and substantive support to meetings and events, including preparation of background documents and presentations.
,
• Supporting other ad hoc activities as needed.

Requirements
• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme or in the final academic year of a first university degree programme.

• Proficient in written and spoken English; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

• Demonstrated interest and motivation in the field of development.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI).

• Strong electronic communication skills including writing, summarizing, and editing short items.
