Conservation Law
Foundation (CLF) is seeking a Policy Analyst to join our team working to
protect New England’s environment for all people. The Policy Analyst will work
in the organization’s Healthy and Resilient Communities program, working
closely with an interdisciplinary team of staff and community partners to
advance CLF’s work on getting ready for climate impacts, supporting healthy
neighborhoods, and promoting environmentally just investments. The position
will be based in CLF’s Boston office with flexibility for some remote work
within New England.
What you’ll do
· Prepare and edit
memoranda, reports, presentations, and other materials;
· Draft and publicly
present comments on projects, policies, and plans;
· Conduct data
management and analysis including geospatial analysis, demographic research,
parsing data, web mapping or other tasks;
· Conduct legal and
policy research in the areas of climate resilience; affordable and stable
housing; climate gentrification; and investment and development
· Provide technical
planning assistance to community partners and work collaboratively with
partners on research and advocacy;
·
Help build alliances and participate in coalitions among
community groups, public officials, business interests, and advocacy
organizations around specific advocacy initiatives;
· Write public education
materials and public-facing communication pieces such as blogs and help inform
communication strategies;
· Mentor and manage
interns and students; and
· Contribute to CLF’s strategic priorities and commitment to
diversity, equity and inclusion and organizational excellence.
What you’ll need
We are looking for a
motivated self-starter that is able to work both independently and as a
productive team member. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
· 2-3 years of related
experience in research, advocacy, or planning;
· An undergraduate
degree in urban studies, geography, planning, policy, public health, environmental
studies, or a related field;
· A passion and
commitment to environmental, public health, anti-racism and/or social justice
work;
· Excellent analytical
skills and the ability to put your analysis into writing that is easily
understood;
· Excellent written and
oral communication skills, and ability to communicate with racially,
ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities;
· Strong organizational
and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative, solve problems, assess
priorities, and manage a variety of activities in a fast-paced environment;
· An understanding of
urban planning and land use concepts;
· Strong administrative
capabilities, including proficiency with Microsoft Office;
· Beginner to
intermediate level GIS skills (ArcMap/ESRI preferred) with an interest in
developing this skill; and
· Commitment to
diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The following additional
skills or experiences will be beneficial in the role:
· A master’s degree in
urban planning, geography/geographical information systems, public policy, environmental
science, or a related field; and
· Experience with Adobe
Creative Suite (InDesign and Illustrator)

Salary & Benefits
CLF offers a competitive salary, an extensive benefits plan, and an open and accepting work environment where differences are highly respected. The starting salary range for the position is $55,000 - $64,000; actual salary will reflect experience and qualifications.
