Job Description

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking a Senior Land Planner to oversee the planning, design, and construction of public park land and greenway facilities. The role involves managing projects, leading strategic planning initiatives, and ensuring efficient project delivery. Candidates should have a relevant degree and significant planning experience. Proficiency in design software is preferred. This is a full-time position based in Nashville, TN.
Senior Land Planner - (Greenways & Open Space)

The Senior Land Planner manages the planning, design, construction and acquisition of public park land and greenway facilities. This position applies knowledge of urban and recreation planning, architectural and landscape design, sustainable development and best practices in construction to the management of park capital projects.
Typical Duties
• Implement short and long-range recommendations as established in adopted departmental planning documents.
• Lead strategic planning initiatives with internal and external team members.
• Prepare request for proposals (RFPs) and invitations to bid.
• Manage projects, teams, architects, general contractors and other consultants to ensure successful and efficient project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of planning experience.
• Master's Degree in Planning or related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of planning experience.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• A degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, sustainable development, construction management or related field and experience in planning, design, construction and/or project management.
• Experience in community, urban, recreation planning or design.
• Proficiency in ArcMap, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in the supervision and management of projects and people.
