Job Description

The PhD position at beBee Careers in Rotterdam focuses on climate change impact assessment, exploring public perceptions of health risks associated with climate change. The role involves conducting surveys and mixed-method studies, particularly regarding vulnerable groups. Candidates should have a master's in social or health sciences, strong statistical skills, and proficiency in English. The full-time position offers a competitive salary and benefits, with a contract duration of 1.5 years, extendable to 2.5 years.
This project aims to investigate how people perceive climate change-related health risks, how they search and process information about these risks, and what factors determine readiness to act. The research will make recommendations on effective communication of health impacts of climate change.

Four studies will be conducted using survey designs, social media analysis, and mixed methods. The risk perceptions of the general public in relation to several possible health risks related to climate change will be examined. Special attention will be paid to vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, children, individuals with chronic diseases, and migrants.

The applicant is expected to have a master's degree in the social sciences or health sciences. A good statistical background and experience with quantitative research are essential. Computer skills in SPSS, SAS, R, or similar statistical software are required. Excellent speaking and writing skills in English are necessary. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.

We offer a full-time position with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). The contract will be entered into for 1.5 years, which can be extended with a second term of 2.5 years if the candidate performs well.
Benefits
