Job Description

Ecohouse Solar is seeking a Permitting Coordinator in Columbus, OH, responsible for managing the permitting process for solar installations. The role involves coordinating with local jurisdictions and utility providers to secure necessary permits, conducting site surveys, and maintaining organized records. Candidates should have knowledge of solar energy regulations, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience is required.
Job Summary

The Permitting Coordinator will be responsible for managing and streamlining the permitting process for residential and commercial solar installation projects. This role involves proactive coordination with local jurisdictions, utility providers, and cross-functional internal teams to ensure that all permits are secured in a timely and compliant manner. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of solar energy systems, building and electrical codes, and the regulatory landscape, helping to minimize delays and support the successful execution of each project. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to navigate evolving permitting requirements are essential for success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Support the company’s permitting initiatives across various jurisdictions.
• Research and identify permitting requirements, including relevant authorities, zoning classifications, and homeowner association guidelines.
• Determine utility-specific documentation needs, such as technical specifications, engineering drawings, usage data, and associated fees.
• Prepare and submit applications for permits, utility interconnections, and contractor registrations.
• Coordinate inspections and facilitate the process of securing utility permission to operate.
• Maintain accurate, organized records and ensure all permitting documents are uploaded to designated shared folders.
• Conduct Site Surveys for new projects, as needed.
• Attend inspections as an Ecohouse representative to ensure compliance with local jurisdictions.

Required Skills:
• Permitting Knowledge: Solid understanding of local, state, and federal regulations governing solar energy systems, with the ability to navigate the permitting process across multiple jurisdictions.
• Exceptional Organization: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, track key deadlines, and maintain meticulous documentation throughout each phase of the permitting cycle.
• Strong Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing, reviewing, and submitting permit applications, ensuring full compliance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
• Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with clients, permitting authorities, and cross-functional internal teams.
• Problem-Solving Ability: Resourceful and solutions-oriented when addressing permitting challenges, delays, or discrepancies, with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
• Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working with permitting platforms, shared digital file systems, and standard office software to streamline workflows and maintain records.

Minimum Education and Experience:
• 1-3 years of experience in project coordination, permitting, or a related role within the solar, construction, or renewable energy sectors.
• Working knowledge of permitting processes for solar energy systems, including familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
• Experience with site assessments, zoning research, or regulatory compliance is a plus.
• Prior interaction with local permitting agencies, building departments, or utility companies is highly beneficial.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, a current or future need for sponsorship is not supported or available for this position.

Salary Range:

$36,480.00 - $54,720.00
• This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance.
