Job Description

The Permit Technician I position at Junction City, KS involves processing building permit applications, providing customer assistance, and explaining city codes. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, assisting citizens and contractors, reviewing applications, and communicating permit statuses. Applicants need a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The job offers a full-time schedule with a salary range of $14.50–$17.00 per hour.
Under general supervision by the Building/Codes Administrator, the purpose of this position is to
process building permit applications and related documents; provide information, customer assistance,
and explain City codes and policies to citizens and applicants.

Responds to routine permitting and licensing inquiries and provides customer
service to the public.

Communicates with customers directly and by telephone and by email.

Assists Citizens, Contractors and others with the process and procedures of
obtaining permits and licenses.

Accepts building permit applications, review applications for completeness and
forwards applications to appropriate staff for review.

Accepts license applications, review applications for completeness, review
supporting documents for accuracy.

Researches and communicates the status of permits and licenses to applicants.

Knowledge of operating a personal computer.

Utilizing a variety of business software, such as Microsoft
Office, Word, and Excel.

Ability and desire to learn is required.

Required Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Required Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
