TasNetworks is seeking a motivated Payroll Support Officer for a 12-month fixed term contract in Hobart, TAS. The role involves assisting with payroll processing, managing employee data, and responding to payroll inquiries. Ideal candidates will have attention to detail and strong customer service skills. About The Role
Band 3 - base salary from $80,688 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with preferred candidate based on skills and experience
TasNetworks is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Support Officer to join our team on a fixed term 12 month contract. In this important role, you'll help ensure the smooth and accurate processing of our fortnightly payroll, supporting both the Payroll Specialist and the broader People Solutions team.
The role is responsible for a wide range of payroll tasks, including assisting with end-to-end payroll processing (including off-cycle requirements), checking and recording timesheets, and managing leave requests, deductions, and overpayment recoveries. You’ll play a key role in maintaining up-to-date employee data to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery.
Day-to-day Duties Of The Payroll Officer Can Also Include
• Processing paid parental leave, Higher Duties Allowances (HDAs), and employment changes
• Assist with audits and reporting requirements
• Provide accurate and timely People data as required
• Respond to internal and external payroll-related enquiries with a strong focus on customer service
About You

Ideally, You Will Bring
• A sound understanding of payroll processes, taxation, and labour costing
• Strong customer service skills, with the confidence to handle sensitive data with discretion
• The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Experience with HR and payroll systems (SAP is highly regarded)
