Chapman University and Schmid College of Science and Technology
seek applications for a Part-time Lecturer for Environmental
Biology Lab (ENV 250L, for Environmental Science & Policy
majors) for Fall 2025.

Schmid College of Science and Technology is one of 11 schools and
colleges in the University. The college embodies Chapman’s mission

broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Schmid College
has a new 140,000 sq ft home, the Keck Center for Science and

Responsibilities:
• Teach one lab section that meets once per week for 3 hours and
50 minutes throughout the semester.
• Each week includes preparing course material, holding office
hours, and grading all assignments submitted by the students.
• The lecturer must be available to attend instructor
orientations before the start of the semester.
• This course meets Tuesday 1-4:50 PM.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or equivalent professional
experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in
writing.
• Strong commitment to student learning, quality teaching, and
academic excellence.
• Demonstrated appreciation for students' active role in learning
and a commitment to personalized education within the Chapman
Laboratory Experience.
Desired qualifications:
• A completed or in-progress graduate degree (Ph.D or Master’s)
in a STEM discipline.
• University or community college teaching experience,
specifically with introductory STEM courses, such as introductory
environmental science, general biology and/or ecology and
evolution.

approval. Successful completion of a background check is required
for the final candidate(s). The salary for this position is an
hourly lecturer rate of $148.56.
