Paid Internship - Renewable Energy Technician [On-site]

EDF Renewables North America is offering a Paid Internship for a Renewable Energy Technician in Wyoming, IL. The role involves assisting the Asset Optimization team with the Wind Energy Program, conducting repairs on turbines, and learning from experienced colleagues. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in energy or engineering and possess basic mechanical knowledge of wind turbines. The position requires physical capability to work at heights and is primarily on-site.
Scope of Position

This internship position will help the Asset Optimization team with the Wind Energy Program. The intern will grow as a professional as well as an individual by learning from the Site Managers their direct supervisor, the their mentor and the whole department. The successful candidate will be an autonomous quick learner with an adaptive mindset, not afraid to take initiative and learn from their colleagues.

The full pay range for this role is $17.00 to $28.00 per hour. The target range for this position is $19.00 to $25.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

This Internship will be taking place at our Camp Grove Site located in Wyoming, Illinois.

Responsibilities

Goals of the Internship
• Conduct repairs and/or maintenance on turbines in multiple wind fields on any given day.
• Analyze and interpret basic schematics and technical
• Create reports on work status as directed.
• Assist with site activities to help prevent the site from falling behind on work

Skills to acquire:
• Basic Mechanical knowledge of a wind turbine generator
• Full proficiency following safety regulations and work
• Assess Turbine lubrication as required.
• Review work Instructions and other pertinent documents or instructions

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in energy or engineering.
• One years of experience working with wind turbines

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Wind Program
• Technical and mechanical skills
• Ability to learn quickly
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with minimum supervision
• Able to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme height.
• Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

10% of the time is spent in an office environment, utilizing computers, phones, and general office equipment.

90% of the time is spent outside the office in the field.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to climb 80m Wind Turbine Generator without climb assist
• Due to weight restrictions associated with life-saving fall-arrest equipment employees are required to wear while working at heights, maximum employee weight (for Wind only) must not exceed 285 lbs. Employee weight is subject to review at any time throughout employment and required annually at a minimum.
