Job Description

Save The Children Australia is seeking a Pacific Regional Climate Change Advisor based in Austral NSW or willing to relocate to Vanuatu. The role involves providing technical support and strategic guidance for climate change initiatives across Pacific Country Offices. Candidates should have at least 7 years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in climate program design and implementation. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Your role will help us deliver high quality results for vulnerable Pacific families and children through our rapidly growing climate change portfolio.

Reporting to the Pacific Regional PDQ Director you will be part of the Pacific PDQ team and be responsible for providing technical support and strategic guidance for climate change work across Save the Children Country Offices in the Pacific including Vanuatu Solomon Islands Tonga and Papua New Guinea as well as providing specific support to our Vanuatu Communitybased Climate Resilience project (VCCRP).

This is a fulltime permanent position. To apply for the role you need to be currently based in Australia New Zealand Vanuatu the Solomon Islands or Papua New Guinea or willing to move to Vanuatu.

You will make a difference by:
• Advancing our strategy to ensure Pacific communities have the capacity to adapt to climate change.
• Providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of climate change programs.
• Building capacity in relation to evidencebased climate change adaptation and locallyled adaptation programming and approaches.
• Championing the evidence and learning from our climate change work with partners in the region and in international forums.

Your experience has seen you contribute to transformative program design implementation and monitoring. Your outstanding communication skills government relations as well as your adaptability and resilience will see you achieve great outcomes for vulnerable families and children.

This role requires:
• At least 7 years of experience working on climate change programming or a strongly related field (i.e. environment conservation biodiversity)
• Advance knowledge of complementary approaches to climate change adaptation / mitigation including in areas of agriculture food security and livelihoods.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise and process quantitative and qualitative information on development and climate change issues.
• Familiarity with the Green Climate Fund and other global climate finance mechanisms.
• Proven track record of developing successful funding proposal and tenders for climate programs and successful design and implementation of climate change programs.
• Experience in integrating climate change into planned and/or ongoing development programs strategies and policies.
• Highly developed communication skills written and verbal and the ability to present information clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences including government stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of nontechnical program staff in evidencebased approaches.
