Job Description
Agilitas Energy is hiring a Field Services Engineer in Wakefield, MA, responsible for field service on PV and BESS facilities, ensuring O&M and warranty work compliance. Key duties include maintenance, troubleshooting, customer service, and documentation. Candidates need electrical knowledge and experience with PV/BESS systems. The role requires 70-90% travel in the Northeast and a valid driver's license. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Agilitas Energy, a leading integrated developer and operator of distributed solar and energy storage systems is now hiring a Field Service Engineer.
This position will be responsible for providing field service on PV and BESS facilities for the Company fleet, ensuring that all O&M and Warranty work is undertaken in accordance with the contractual scope and in accordance with internal standards. This position also interfaces with third-party suppliers of large system components which includes, but is not limited to, inverters, transformers, large scale energy storage, and equipment conditioning systems. This position reports to the O&M Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
• Establish, promote, and maintain good customer service relationships with internal and external team members.
• Safely operate, supervise, plan & perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting of equipment issues using data acquisition and energy management software.
• Support software, firmware upgrades (as needed).
• Maintain accurate site records of work performed and site issues.
• Identify improvements to and contribute to product support procedures, training, troubleshooting guides, and other service documentation.
• Other duties as required to support the product return and technical support process.
• Be responsible for driving, communicating and bringing to closure open maintenance items effectively. Collaborating and escalating issues to the authorized service providers and subcontractors in a lead role.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Fundamental knowledge of electrical test and measurement equipment required.
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings in relation to physical systems required.
• Ability to interface well with vendors, contractors, and team members in a cross-functional environment required.
• Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software compatibility issues on PV and BESS required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience with computer network operating systems required.
• Experience using Office tools Excel, PowerPoint, Word required.
• Working knowledge of communications protocols such as CAN, Modbus, TC/PIP, DNP3 a plus.
• Familiarity with complex controls systems, Real-Time Operating Systems a plus.
• Engineering experience with energy storage and power conversion systems a plus.
• Knowledge or understanding of generation, transmission and distribution in electric grid systems a plus.
• Working knowledge TCP/IP networking background, especially routing and communications protocols a plus.
• Structured problem-solving experience or Lean background a plus.
• Knowledge or understanding of computer networks a plus.
Education/Experience/Work Environment
• Professional electrical license, degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Willingness to travel in the Northeast region 70-90%.
• Ability to lift and carry material is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and passport and be willing /able to drive and fly to remote sites, on occasion, as needed.
