Job Description

The Outreach Specialist at Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society will manage outreach programs and grant projects to promote sustainable agriculture. This part-time, temporary role involves event planning, social media management, and content creation. About the position

The Outreach Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and supporting outreach programs and grant projects for the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society (NSAS), the state's oldest sustainable agriculture organization. This part-time, temporary position involves promoting sustainable agriculture and food systems that benefit land, people, and communities. The role requires flexibility in work hours, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate meetings and events.

Responsibilities
• Oversee programs: Organic Excellence, Round Table Discussions, and Grower Gatherings.

• Support programs: Planned Approach, Farm Tours onsite, Farm Tours online.
,
• Assist with the Annual Conference, supporting logistics and event planning as needed.
,
• Manage website content and biweekly social media posts to enhance online presence.
,
• Design and develop compelling online and print materials to effectively promote events and initiatives.
,
• Track event attendance and gather data for program evaluation and improvement.
,
• Provide graphic design support across digital, print, and other marketing channels.
,
• Serve as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic representative of NSAS to promote the mission and engage with stakeholders.

Requirements
• Strong attention to detail in event planning, online engagement, and project coordination.
,
• Excellent writing & oral skills, including research, outlining, and editing capabilities.
,
• Ability to initiate and complete projects within deadlines.
,
• Timely communication of updates and feedback.
,
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
,
• Familiarity with website management tools.
,
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities effectively.
,
• Demonstrated success planning, managing, and delivering projects.
,
• Ability to work independently under the direction of a non-profit organization structure and Director of the organization.

• Practical knowledge of sustainable agriculture and food production.
,
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
,
• Associate's Degree in related area.

Nice-to-haves
• Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, ecology, biology, agribusiness, journalism, or related field.

• Equivalent academic, work, and nonprofit management experience will be considered.
,
• Managing and directing volunteers in a variety of settings.
,
• Depth of experience with Canva, Wix, Trello, social media, and grant reporting programs, engagement with radio and print media.
