Mountain Springs Nature Retreat in Penticton, BC is seeking an Organic Farm Help/Farm Hand for a temporary on-call position from April to October. The role involves outdoor work, assisting with organic gardening, and supporting the farm manager at farmers' markets. Position: Organic farm help / Farm hand
Farm: Mountain Springs Nature Retreat
Location: Penticton, BC
Hours: typically 3 days a week (see below). The "Farm Hand" position is a temporary on-call position. You will work with the Farm owner/ coordinator, and assist with the organic garden from April to October.
Mountain Spring Organic Farm creates resilient, affordable local certified organic products for community members. The ideal candidate is comfortable and enjoys working outdoors, and is interested in organic agriculture and Farm Food Justice.
Our organic farm is thriving with a field-to-fork journey with sustainable practices in mind:
• Agricultural production models that feed the community and regenerate biodiversity and ecosystems.
• Efficient, safe, and low carbon system
• Ethical and zero-waste practice
Task and Responsibilities
• Enjoy being physically active, fieldwork to support the general garden and small farm maintenance.
• Support the farm manager during the farmers’ market.
• Assist in harvest of berries and veggies as needed.
• Rototill and spread manure
• Have experience or interest in organic agriculture
Qualifications
• The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an outdoor environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Physically mobile, able and willing to move through various outdoor work environments.
• Able to lift max. 40 lbs and digging in garden
• Work with diversity and inclusive approaches
• Have your own vehicle and valid driver license
Start date: April 2025
Paid Position: $17.40 an hour.
Hours are typically 3 days a week with occasional weekends. Flexibility in hours of work to be agreed upon with the farm owner/ coordinator.
