Job Description

WSP Global is seeking an OV Environmental Compliance Lead for its Atlanta Transportation team. This role involves managing daily activities in the Civil/Highway group, focusing on minimizing environmental impacts across various projects. Responsibilities include supporting environmental permitting, conducting site assessments, developing management plans, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Lead will also collaborate with project leadership on impact assessments and corrective strategies, while enhancing design skills and building client relationships throughout Georgia.
About the position

WSP is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated OV Environmental Compliance Lead for the Atlanta Transportation team. The WSP Atlanta office serves clients across the state on a diverse range of projects, including turn lanes, widening, intersection improvements, bridge replacements, urban interchange reconstructions, and large design-build projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance design and production skills while building relationships within WSP and with numerous clients throughout the state. The OV Environmental Compliance Lead will play a crucial role in managing the daily activities of the Civil/Highway group. In this role, the OV Environmental Compliance Lead will provide technical environmental planning assistance aimed at minimizing the environmental impacts of various projects, including commercial, industrial, utility, transmission, development, infrastructure, construction, pipeline, and transportation-related initiatives. Responsibilities will include supporting and guiding multi-site/phase environmental permitting projects, conducting site and impact assessments, developing restoration and land use management plans, facilitating public involvement, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The Lead will substantiate documentation to advise on project areas by integrating urban and regional planning with a focus on sustainability. Additionally, the Lead will assist project leadership with environmental impact assessments, corrective and mitigation strategy development, permitting, and restoration activities, ensuring that all responsibilities are delivered with a quality that meets or exceeds industry standards.

Responsibilities
• Assist the Environmental Owner's Verification (OV) Manager in monitoring and verifying adherence to Post Let Instruction (PLI) procedures and Environmental Owner Obligations.

• Collaborate with the Environmental OV Manager to modify or develop new processes to improve Project Management Team (PMT) performance and identify necessary training or support.
,
• Assist in preparing the environmental section of the PMT quarterly audit.
,
• Track PMT Environmental OV resolution of internal audit findings.
,
• Verify annual updates to PMT procedures or Developer Management plans.
,
• Track the status of environmental Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and confirm completion of corrective actions.
,
• Participate in audit follow-up meetings to review draft external audit reports.
,
• Attend pre-construction meetings to maintain familiarity with active construction areas.
,
• Perform Technical Review and Recommendation (TRR) to verify proper documentation of environmental measures during construction.
,
• Track and audit documentation of Monthly/Weekly/Daily Environmental Compliance Reports and close-out of self-reporting.
,
• Verify Developer's implementation of Hazardous Material Management Plan and compliance with environmental permits.
,
• Prepare and maintain internal reporting forms of environmental field activities and observations.
,
• Review and comment on Developer's Environmental Monitoring Reports and summarize compliance events and remediation requirements.
,
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local permit conditions and Environmental Commitments per the Contract.

• Validate implementation of Environmental Noncompliance Events (NCEs) by IQF.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or a high school graduate with five (5) years of experience in environmental compliance management.

• 5 to 7 years of experience in the environmental planning field, including environmental surveys, fieldwork, habitat and construction support, impact assessments, and permitting.
,
• Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS) Level II certification.
,
• GDOT Soils, Foundation and Material Testing certification.
,
• Hazardous Waste Site Assessment Studies 6.05 certification.
,
• 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification.
,
• Certified in GDOT Transportation Planning Prequalification Categories 1.06 (b, c, d, e, g).
