Job Description
ACRT, Inc. is seeking a Natural Resources Field Technician in Oakdale, CA. This outdoor role involves conducting ecological assessments in utility Right-of-Way corridors, requiring a degree in environmental science or equivalent experience. Responsibilities include species identification, sample collection, and using mapping tools. Candidates must be physically fit, possess a valid driver’s license, and live within 50 miles of Oakdale. The position requires travel and exposure to various field conditions.

ACRT Pacific is currently seeking passionate, hardworking individuals who enjoy working outdoors and have a strong interest in environmental science and conservation. Our Field Technician position is ideal for early-career professionals or seasoned field staff with educational or hands-on experience in ecology, biology, environmental science, natural resources, or related fields.
Technicians will conduct field assessments of local ecology in utility Right-of-Way corridors. Responsibilities include species identification and documentation, water/soil sample collection, and using mapping tools such as GPS and ArcGIS.
Minimum Requirements:
• College degree in ecology, biology, natural resources, environmental science, or a related field
OR
• 2+ years of relevant ecological field experience in lieu of a degree
• Must be physically able and willing to work outdoors in all weather and terrain (this is a field-based role)
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to work independently or in a small team in remote locations
• Effective communication and documentation skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Comfortable operating vehicles (4x4, ATVs)
• Experience identifying local flora and fauna
Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Oakdale, CA
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience conducting biological field surveys
• Familiarity with ArcGIS (Field Maps, Survey123) or GPS-based data collection
• Experience with environmental field equipment (e.g., camera traps, range finders, acoustic sampling equipment)
• Exposure to regulatory compliance and reporting under environmental laws
• Previous work with utility companies, government agencies, or private ecological firms
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules and work within a wide geographic region
Additional Information:
• Physical Demands: Frequent walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and repetitive hand motions
• Travel: Required up to 100% (including overnight and multi-week travel)
• Field Conditions: Exposure to rugged terrain, extreme weather, noise, and environmental hazards
Salary Range Disclaimer
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Pacific salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to customer contact terms, location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include Paid Time Off, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, ESOP contributions, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and other region-specific benefits as eligible.
Salary Range Transparency
For applicants residing in California, the salary range for this role is from $26.00 min to $ 34.00 max.
