Job Description
Terracon Consultants, Inc. is hiring a Natural Resources Field Scientist in Raleigh, NC. The role involves conducting wetland and stream delineations, managing Clean Water Act permitting, performing site visits, and preparing technical reports. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field, or equivalent experience. The position requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
General Responsibilities:We are seeking a qualified Wetland Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in conducting wetland & stream delineations, managing Section 404/401 Clean Water Act permitting processes, conducting site visits with agencies, conducting protected species assessments, and preparing technical reports. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation and sustainable development initiatives.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Understand and practice quality acumen.Support consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.
Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection or assignments.Conduct wetland & stream delineations in accordance with regulatory guidelines and industry best practices. Analyze data collected during wetland & stream delineations and prepare detailed reports to document findings.Implements technical requirements to complete client projects.Conduct protected species assessments and protected species surveys, ensuring compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.Assist senior scientists.Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.Provide support for other service areas as needed within Terracon's Southeast division.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related science field and a minimum 1 year related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years’ related experience.A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.Preferred Qualifications:Certification in field of expertise preferred.
