About the position
The AmeriCorps Field Crew program offers a unique opportunity for individuals to engage in outdoor conservation work while developing valuable skills and experience. Crew members will participate in a variety of projects aimed at restoring habitats and managing natural resources across the Midwest. These projects may include invasive species management, stream bank stabilization, erosion control, prescribed burning, trail construction and maintenance, tree planting, basic carpentry, and wildland fire suppression. The program emphasizes personal and professional growth, equipping participants with hands-on conservation skills in a team-oriented environment. Crew Leaders, who typically oversee a crew of 4 to 5 AmeriCorps members, serve as the primary liaison between project hosts and program staff, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the crew during each project.
