Job Description

The State of Oregon is seeking a Natural Resource Specialist 3 in Salem, OR, to manage and protect the state's natural resources. The role involves developing conservation strategies, conducting research, collaborating with stakeholders, and providing technical expertise. Responsibilities include monitoring programs, conducting site visits, and mentoring junior staff, with a focus on sustainable resource management. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $58K–$70K.

Develop and implement strategies for conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in the state.
Conduct research and analysis to inform natural resource policy decisions.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community groups, to develop and implement natural resource management plans.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management programs and policies.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on natural resource issues to internal and external partners.
Stay updated on current trends and best practices in natural resource management to inform decision-making.
Conduct site visits and field work to assess the condition of natural resources and identify potential threats.
Develop and maintain partnerships with landowners to promote conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
Prepare and present reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
Assist in the development and management of budgets for natural resource projects and programs.
Stay abreast of state and federal regulations related to natural resource management and ensure compliance.
Mentor and train junior staff members on natural resource management principles and practices.
Participate in public outreach and education efforts to raise awareness about the importance of natural resource conservation.
Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and other events related to natural resource management.
Continuously evaluate and improve natural resource management processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
