Job Description

The State of Idaho is seeking a Natural Resource Program Coordinator - Anadromous Fish Specialist in Boise City, ID. Responsibilities include coordinating fishery management programs, developing regulations, and communicating with stakeholders. About the position

Responsibilities
• Coordinates in-state fishery management program and recommends needed research.
• Prepares and proposes modifications to fishery management plans.
• Coordinates fish regulation development with regional staff.
• Responds to information requests from internal and external customers.
• Identifies problems and recommends solutions to increase angling opportunity.
• Represents department and State of Idaho at various meetings and conferences regarding fishery resources.
• Communicates science to the public through writing, testifying, or media interviews.
• Coordinates Columbia River Policy issues with various stakeholders.
• Reviews and provides technical input on fisheries management documents and plans.
• Administers Idaho state scientific collection permit program.
• Coordinates Fisheries incidental impact reporting for ESA listed fish.
• Coordinates conservation and enhancement activities for salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River Basin.
• Coordinates state-tribal fishery team to prepare run reconstruction for Snake River steelhead.
• Coordinates reviews and comments on biological opinions and NEPA documents related to fisheries.
• Responsible for budget tracking and development.

Requirements
• Considerable knowledge of fisheries management, scientific method, science communication, and science review and writing (typically gained by at least nine years of professional work experience in Fisheries Management or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree in Fisheries Management with five years of experience, or a master's degree with three years of experience).
• Experience managing fisheries-related projects (typically gained by leading the design and implementation of two or more fisheries-related field investigation projects).
• Experience with data management and manipulation including databases and spreadsheets, and statistical analysis of data.
• Experience writing technical reports or peer-reviewed publications on fisheries-related topics.
• Some knowledge of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and/or the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and its implementation.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience working with internal teams, multi-agency teams, or collaborative groups to accomplish fisheries-related objectives.
• Experience making oral presentations to groups on fisheries-related topics.
