Job Description
This 16-week AmeriCorps position in Idaho Falls, ID focuses on natural resource conservation. Responsibilities include implementing conservation actions, controlling noxious weeds, and monitoring vegetation. Applicants must be aged 18-30 (up to 35 for veterans) and possess a valid driver's license. The role offers a $10,240 living allowance and a $1,956.35 education award upon service completion. No degree is required.
• Job Summary*
This 16-week Individual Placement AmeriCorps position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to natural resource conservation work on public lands in Eastern Idaho. As a Natural Resource Conservation AmeriCorps Member, you will assist with on-the-ground conservation and restoration activities, noxious weed control, vegetation monitoring, and other Field Office activities.
• *Duties and Responsibilities:**
• Conservation Actions: Assist with the implementation of conservation actions to improve and restore public lands for wildlife and public use. This includes juniper removal, seedling plantings, fence removal and/or construction, construction of beaver dam analogs, and other low-tech process-based restoration efforts.
• Noxious Weed Control and Inventory: Control noxious weeds through mechanical and chemical methods to protect and improve public lands and restoration project areas. Noxious weed control involves the use of backpack sprayers, UTV's, and other control equipment. Inventory of noxious weeds follows standard protocols.
• Vegetation Monitoring: Assist in vegetation monitoring efforts to document pre- and post-conservation action implementation to determine action effectiveness and assist with adaptive management. Monitoring efforts include line-point intercept, fixed plot measurements, and other standard methods.
• Field Office Activities: Assist other Field Office programs such as fuels, fire rehabilitation, fisheries, rangelands, recreation, weeds, and wildlife with ongoing programs and projects.
• Required Qualifications:
• Valid driver's license
• Basic first aid and CPR (training provided)
• Defensive driving (training provided)
• Ages 18-30 (up to 35 for veterans)
• S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Must pass a background and driver check
• High school diploma or GED

• $10,240 living allowance dispersed monthly
• $1,956.35 education award upon completion of 640 hours of service
