About the position

This position is located in the Pacific Northwest Region, specifically in Everett, Washington. The incumbent will be responsible for Natural Resources Planning and ensuring compliance with environmental laws, particularly the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The role involves conducting environmental studies, coordinating with specialists, and developing planning documents.

Responsibilities
• Conduct environmental studies and evaluations concerning various resources such as social economic, land, air, water, timber, recreation, wildlife, fisheries, and special areas.

• Ensure NEPA documents conform to applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
,
• Coordinate with natural resource specialists to compile and analyze information for program and project plans.
,
• Instruct project staff on standards and guidelines related to natural resource management proposals.
,
• Write environmental analyses, assessments, and environmental impact statements.
,
• Develop, monitor, and maintain planning documents and action plans for the program of work.

Requirements
• Basic Requirement: Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in the relevant field.

• For GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level, or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of specialized experience and education.

• For GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 level, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of specialized experience and graduate education.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in environmental assessments and drafting environmental impact statements.

• Experience in the permit review process and field inspections.
,
• Experience in planning environmental resources projects.
