The University of Chicago Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth is seeking a Multimedia Designer to manage visual strategy and branding. Responsibilities include creating digital and print materials, producing videos, managing vendors, and maintaining a digital asset library. The Institute focuses on energy markets, policy, climate systems engineering, and energy technology, fostering innovative ideas and educational programs.

Job Summary

The Multimedia Designer will lead the visual strategy for the Institute, managing branding and producing visual content for web, email, social media, and print. The role requires a creative individual with strong design skills and attention to detail, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, Marketing and External Engagement.

Responsibilities
• Design and produce digital and print materials, including marketing resources, reports, flyers, social media graphics, and email campaigns, coordinating with external printers.
• Create compelling videos showcasing the Institute’s research and outreach, managing the entire production process from concept to editing.
• Manage audio, video, livestream, lighting, and photography vendors, overseeing equipment maintenance and coordinating event support.
• Organize and maintain the Institute’s digital asset library for easy access by team members.
• Recommend and implement new software and platforms for visual content creation.
• Negotiate contracts with outside vendors and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
• College or university degree in a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia/video production, or related field.
• Professional graphic design experience, with video production experience preferred.
• Background in multimedia journalism or related roles.
• Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere).
• Strong understanding of current design, video, and data visualization trends.
• Ability to translate complex ideas into visual content quickly.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
