Job Description

Resource Environmental Solutions is seeking a Mid-Level Ecological Restoration Designer for their Louisville, KY office. This role involves fieldwork and design tasks in stream and wetland restoration, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include site assessments, construction oversight, and developing designs using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in ecological restoration.
About the position

The Mid-Level Ecological Restoration Designer at Resource Environmental Solutions LLC will be based in either the Louisville, KY or Frankfort, KY office. This role is integral to a multi-disciplinary team focused on ecosystem restoration projects, particularly in stream and wetland restoration. The designer will engage in both fieldwork and design tasks, contributing to significant restoration efforts across the nation.

Responsibilities
• Perform geomorphic, biological, and ecological site assessments in the field.

• Fulfill mitigation field protocols and apply fluvial geomorphic/hydraulic surveys.
,
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on wetland and stream design development and project implementation.
,
• Collect and analyze field data to interpret existing conditions and identify potential design constraints.
,
• Perform construction oversight and post-construction monitoring on project sites.
,
• Support technical calculations, floodplain analyses, and discharge selection design.
,
• Develop design metrics into a 3-dimensional design using Autodesk Civil 3D.
,
• Produce plans and develop preliminary, final, and construction restoration plan sets using AutoCAD.
,
• Assist in data processing and restoration design technique documentation.
,
• Prepare regulatory permit applications and post-construction monitoring reports.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a natural resources design field or natural sciences field.
,
• 2+ years of experience in a relevant field.
,
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS, and/or HEC-RAS.
,
• Fundamental understanding of fluvial geomorphology.

Nice-to-haves
• On-the-job experience with stream/wetland restoration and field data collection.

• Knowledge of geomorphology, stream ecology, and/or aquatic biology.
,
• Understanding of watershed hydrology, stream hydraulics, and sediment transport.
,
• Ability to evaluate design discharge, channel cross-section, profile, and planform using various methods.
,
• Ability to read and interpret ecological restoration construction plans.
,
• Ability to interpret results from hydrology and hydraulics models.
