O-I is seeking a Procurement Energy Manager for a hybrid role in Perrysburg, OH. The manager will develop energy sourcing strategies, optimize energy system charges, and lead energy saving projects. Responsibilities include market analysis, defining tender specifications, negotiating contracts, and managing energy risk. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant procurement experience, particularly in energy markets.
Job Description

This is a hybrid role, schedule can be flexible.

The Energy Sourcing Manager drives cost leadership (creation of sustainable competitive advantage whilst delivering financial performance objectives) by developing sourcing strategies for energy at AMN level in coordination with the Global Energy Sourcing team.

As applicable, the Energy Sourcing Manager is also in charge of the energy system charges (non-commodity cost) optimization action plan (including grid cost, capacity cost, taxes and levies) in cooperation with the CG Procurement Leader; other key responsibilities include energy saving projects in cooperation with the TSC leaders (demand side) and the Director Global Energy Procurement (supply side).
Responsibilities:
• Develop the understanding of the US and Canada energy markets with its long and short-term dynamics and trends, and of the drivers that influence price structure.
• Define, in coordination with the Director Global Energy Procurement, the overall AMN sourcing strategy for all energy commodities (primarily gas, electricity, CO2).
• Propose the energy sourcing strategy for the countries in scope based on country specifics.
• Define the tender specifications, run regional or local tenders in coordination with the Director Global Energy Procurement, and negotiate commercial agreements for the countries in scope.
• Negotiate legal contracts with suppliers with the support of local Legal and in accordance with procurement and accounting policies and processes.
• Support execution of defined internal controls for the countries in scope.
• Lead the energy risk management strategy and objectives (hedging level and prices) within the CG Energy Risk Committee that compiles the functions as needed:
Managing Director, Procurement, Controlling, Sales, Pricing, Treasury, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.
• Execute and regularly track the approved hedging strategy utilizing relevant business reports provided by the supporting Energy Procurement consultant.
• Ensure regular and in depth market watch and provide technical analysis and fundamentals analysis as well as hedging recommendations (when, which tool) to the Energy Risk Committee.
• Identify regulated cost risks and opportunities for each of the countries in scope based on country specifics and lead or execute or coordinate and support action plans.
• Coordinate with local stakeholders execution of processes related to procurement of energy (PO, IR, invoice validation).
• Proactively support identification, definition and implementation of energy savings projects in the countries in scope working with the Energy Network, Total System Cost Community and the energy champions.
• Participate to the lobbying activity of energy intensive associations, consortia and commissions in AMN.
• Encourage and supersede participation of country representatives to the lobbying activity on energy cost.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related-area. (Energy Procurement/Supply Chain preferred).
• Good knowledge of regional and local energy markets, ideally with an extensive network with suppliers and energy network.
• Minimum 5+ years procurement / Strategic Sourcing experience or relevant experience in the energy environment, such as energy buyer, trader in an energy intensive consumer company or as a responsible of pricing or trading in an energy supplier or as a trader or broker.
• Strong Leadership Skills.
• Excellent negotiation, contract preparation and management skills.
• Proficiency in analytics and computer skills including Microsoft Office, SAP.
• Proficiency in energy fundamental and technical analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $115,000 and $130,000 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
