The Operations Manager (Power Plant Operations) at Reworld is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Waste to Energy Refuse Derived Fuel Power Plant operations. This position entails managing supervisory personnel and ensuring the overall activities of the power generation facility align with established safety and environmental regulations, production schedules, output requirements, and contractual obligations. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Facility Manager and is expected to maintain a high level of safety and environmental methodology while promoting best practices within the team. The Operations Manager will oversee a team that includes Shift Supervisors and Operators, ensuring that all operations run efficiently and effectively while adhering to federal and state environmental standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring the operation of boilers, turbine-generators, and auxiliary equipment to maximize power generation output, supporting compliance programs, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental policies. The Operations Manager will also document daily production and capacity, participate in outage planning, manage work schedules, and conduct training sessions for operators. This role is critical in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility, enforcing housekeeping standards, and fostering a culture of safety awareness among all staff.

Responsibilities
• Oversee the activities of the power plant operations staff to ensure continued operation of boilers, turbine-generator, and auxiliary equipment.

• Support the NERC/FERC/FRCC Internal Compliance Program, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

• Communicate effectively with operators, mechanics, peers, and leadership across multiple functions and systems.

• Ensure shift supervisors adhere to company, state, and federal policies regarding environmental parameters, safety, and employee relations.
,
• Lead improvement teams and maintain strong connections to regional and corporate maintenance and technical groups.
,
• Document daily production and capacity, providing reports to the Facility Operations Manager and Solid Waste Authority.

• Accompany Solid Waste Authority representatives on weekly plant inspection tours and respond to discrepancies as required.
,
• Review daily logs of shift activities and operator logs, monitoring maintenance work requests and work order backlogs.
,
• Participate in outage planning, scheduling support manpower, and ordering materials and supplies as needed.
,
• Monitor usage and supply levels of materials and chemicals, requisitioning additional supplies as necessary.

• Maintain work schedules for all operating shifts, ensuring continuous coverage and arranging overtime for vacations and holidays.

• Assemble and review semi-monthly time sheets for department personnel.

• Ensure safety awareness and compliance with plant safety policies, participating in weekly shift safety meetings.

• Oversee the maintenance of a clean, safe, and orderly facility, enforcing housekeeping standards.

• Provide annual written performance appraisals for shift supervisors and review performance evaluations of operators.

• Conduct formal training sessions in power plant operations and ensure adequate training for all operators.

• Oversee employee relations activities, recommending and reviewing corrective action procedures.

Requirements
• Five or more years of experience in the operation of power plant equipment and systems, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

• Must be respirator fit qualified.

• ASME/QRO Certified and able to obtain site-specific Chief Operator Certification within 6 months.

• Complete understanding of all power plant equipment and systems, with extensive work experience in a power generation facility, preferably in a management or supervisory capacity.

• Specific expertise in resource recovery material handling is preferred.
