Indigenous Pact PBC is hiring a Medical Assistant to support both in-person and virtual patient care. The role involves recording medical histories, coordinating referrals, and performing intake assessments. Job Title: Medical Assistant Hourly Rate: $23 Work Model: Remote Job Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible to assist in the provision of care to both in-person and virtual patients in support of the Medical Staff. The individual in this role is part of the Clinical Care Team that engages with patients to develop lifelong well-being and health and as such, has a key role in making a difference in the patient care we offer and assists physicians and other clinicians by providing a unique blend of skills and knowledge to carry out prescribed medical treatment. As a multiskilled health professional, you are part of a team that is responsible to perform administrative and clinical tasks in Guardiant Health Medical's primary care locations while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining positive patient engagement. You will also participate in the delivery of excellent medical services in a patient-centered medical home environment by providing support to both back and front office staff and is also expected to actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts with an emphasis on the importance of the individual patient and putting the patient’s needs first. This role reports directly to the Clinical Services Manager.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the provision of care to both in-person and virtual patients in support of the Medical Staff.

• Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and reason for visit.
,
• Accurately accept and record payment from patients.
,
• Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and ordering of diagnostic testing, supplies, equipment, and prescription refills.

• Enter results of diagnostic imaging, lab work, and other tests in the patient record to ensure compliance and completion in an accurate and timely manner.

• Perform intake assessments, including obtaining and reviewing prior medical records, performing patient intake interviews, and managing new patient forms.

• Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider, answering questions.

• Work closely with other healthcare professionals to communicate with patients and maintain patient confidentiality.

• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and rounds.

Requirements
• High school diploma or GED and successful completion of a Medical Assistant Certification Program from an accredited program/school or other recognized institution.

• Associate degree in medical field - highly preferred.
,
• Bilingual - English/Spanish.
,
• 3+ years of working in the healthcare field - in a busy medical practice.
,
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with people from all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.

• Proven ability to manage performance goals.
,
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a deadline-oriented manner.
,
• Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application.
,
• Ability to handle medical records discreetly.
,
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
,
• Ability to multi-task and perform well in stressful situations.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience with EMR systems.

• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
