Pioneer Data Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lab Animal Technician for an 18-month contract in Cambridge, MA. The role involves providing hands-on training in rodent husbandry and technical procedures, requiring knowledge of vivarium operations. Essential duties include animal care training and documentation. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, adaptability, and attention to detail. This is an onsite position with normal working hours and health insurance benefits.
Position Details:
Our client, a world-leading Pharmaceutical Company in Cambridge, MA is currently looking for a Lab Animal Technician to join their expanding team.

Job Title: Lab Animal Technician / Pharma Industry
Duration: 18 months contract, extendable up to 36 months
Location: Cambridge, MA

The client has the right-to-hire you as a permanent employee at any time during or after the end of the contract.

Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing "hands-on " training in both husbandry and technical rodent procedures. This position requires a clear and detailed understanding of vivarium operations and animal care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Animal Care Training:
Provide "hands-on" training of routine rodent husbandry duties including:
Animal Observations
Feeding
Providing Water
Cage changing
Technical Training:
Provide "hands-on " training in basic in vivo rodent procedures such as:
Dosing
Blood collection
Anesthesia
Document training activities within a learning management system
Communicate and work collaboratively with vivarium and laboratory personnel
Assist with developing training tools and resources

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of Federal Laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to the care and use of research animals, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
Experience collaborating across multiple departments
Ability to adapt to challenges with confidence and flexibility
Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and manipulate objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and type on a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works within an animal facility and with computers.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Position Comments:
Onsite position in Cambridge.
Normal working hours. Team starts between 6:30-8:30 am, normal 8 hours day.
