Position Overview

The general role of the Mechanical Solar Installer II is to provide physical and general labor to solar panel system projects, along with various other construction, mechanical and industrial projects. This position requires mechanical knowledge and aptitude, along with a basic knowledge of industrial mechanical practices. Other projects may involve, but not be limited to the following industries:
Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Factories, Production Plants, Coal, Wind Energy, etc.

This individual should have a basic understanding of industrial construction and must become proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation. This position will require a flexible schedule with extensive travel and out-of-town work and the willingness to work extended hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and possible night shift.
What You'll Do
• Install mechanical and electrical components of a solar energy system
• Assist with material preparation and job staging as assigned
• Learn to safely work around the electrical wiring of solar array/systems (AC and DC)
• Run conduit and cables from solar panels to combiner boxes
• Assist with the layout and construct solar modules/arrays and mounting hardware
• Mount mechanical and structural racking, modules, and electrical equipment
• Provide general labor for various construction, industrial and mechanical projects
• Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
• Learn to operate basic machinery such as a man-lift, scissor lift, fork-lift, etc.
• Assist with assembling machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures
• Learn to set up rigging to hoist equipment
• Learn to select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved
• Use hand signals to direct workers who are engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements as required
Working Conditions
• Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
• Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Can complete repetitive motion tasks daily such as bolt torquing, installing brackets, etc.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
• Work in extreme temperature conditions and environments
• Perform work at a variety of heights
What You'll Bring
• 3+ years of experience for piles, racking, and/or mods preferred
• 1-3 years of mechanical experience in a residential, commercial, or industrial capacity required
• Preference given to candidates with previous leadership experience in mechanical solar site construction
• Possesses a mechanical aptitude with prior experience in solar commercial/industrial mechanical fields required, prior experience leading small crews in the installation of solar piles, racking, and/or mods preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
• Preference given to candidates with previous experience operating Pile Driving Equipment such as a PD-10 or equivalent
• Experience using basic hand tools
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to follow work direction
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Comfortable with working at heights preferred
